An Ode to Jeffery Tyner

The following are a few pictures that Phillip managed to take of the National Mall on Saturday night.  To no one’s surprise, he couldn’t force himself to show you any pictures that didn’t include Jeffery, his best buddy, who came to visit this week.

The WWII Memorial has always been a favorite of mine. There is a something for everyone at the Memorial – fountains, pools, shadow lighting, underwater lightening, sculptures, stone, iron. Plus its fun to find and stake a claim to ‘your’ state!

Australia, Sidney Bridge and Opera House, New Years 2006

Number One – Australia, Sidney Bridge and Opera House, New Years 2006

Cities at night have always amazed me. Getting the chance to be in downtown Sydney to see all of the beautiful lights of the Sydney Bridge and the Opera House both lit up in one shot was amazing! I needed a makeshift tripod to hold the camera steady to get the long exposure required at night, which I found from a bench along the harbor. I had to secure my backpack on the back rest to get the camera at the perfect height. That night, along with this picture, I remember taking some great shots of a local carnival. Can you imagine all the light of the carnival?! Night shots are difficult, but as you can see, worth the trouble.
